Kindergarten students will focus on letters, sounds, and learning to read. They will learn to write sentences as well as vowels, rhyming and comprehension. They will learn basic math concepts as well as addition and subtraction (up to 10), story problems, counting to 100 and counting by 2’s, 5’s, and 10’s.
Our science program focuses on learning about animal groups, earth science, life science and physical science. This includes multiple hands-on science experiments.
Our Bible curriculum includes many stories from the Bible, scripture memorization, and Christian Character traits.
God is incorporated into every academic subject as well as beginning each day with prayer, the Pledge of Allegiance, the Bible pledge, and the Christian pledge.
In addition to academic areas, Kindergartners will also have gym, art, music, and technology classes. They also participate in Chapel weekly.
Textbooks include the following: Abeka Math, Sing, Spell, Read & Write Phonics and Language (may change). Positive Action Bible Curriculum and hands on science curriculum. Social Studies is incorporated into science.
Annual field trips include the apple orchard, playing bells at an assisted living home, Busch’s grocery store, and Potter Park Zoo. Field trips may change.
Special events throughout the year include a Christmas and Spring music program, National Day of Prayer, movie and popcorn parties, class parties, and pep assemblies. March is reading month with a read-a-thon day, and mystery readers.
